Short-Term Rentals

The number of short-term rentals have exploded in the area, which brings more than just more poeple, it strains the existing infrastructure in many ways.  Safety must be of paramount concern.  Our neighbors to the East in Navarre Beach are putting a focus on safety: Navarre Beach Fire Rescue to inspect short-term rentals for safety starting in fall

Perhaps it's time for our Pensacola Beach Fire Rescue to do likewise.

As a community impacted heavily by tourism, the issue of Short-Term Rentals (aka Vacation Rentals) has become huge here on Pensacola Beach, especially with the explosive growth of online marketplaces in recent years.  This explosive growth in unregulated Vacation Rentals and online platforms has completely changed the dynamics of residential life on Pensacola Beach, encouraging many residential property owners to turn their homes into public lodging during the "season," or transform it completely into an investment property.  Some new homes are even designed and built specifically as Vacation Rentals.

While these Short-Term, Vacation Rentals are required to obtain a license from the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), an very high number of them are not licensed...  For more information on this hot topic, check out the links below.
